Rooted
Your body is your most trusted compass. Proprioception — the sense that lives in your muscles, joints, and deep in your skin — is the channel through which you most clearly feel yourself in the world. You likely feel significantly better on days when you have moved your body with intention: lifted something heavy, stretched deeply, worked with your hands, or engaged in physical activity that asked something real of you.
There is a specific kind of calm that comes after exertion that others may not fully understand, but you know it well. Physical effort is not just exercise for you. It is regulation. It clears your head, settles your nervous system, and returns you to yourself in a way that little else can match. You may also be drawn to firm pressure, weight, and the kind of physical grounding that comes from something solid beneath you or around you. Your body does not just carry you through the world. It tells you who you are in it.

Bringing More Proprioceptive Input Into Your Life
Rarely (Reality System Total: 1 to 15)
Your body is not getting the physical input it needs to feel stable, settled, and like itself. For a Rooted type, a significant proprioceptive deficit shows up as more than physical discomfort. It affects concentration, emotional regulation, and a fundamental sense of being grounded in your own existence. The good news is that proprioceptive input is highly available once you know what you are looking for. Start by adding one form of heavy work to your day — carrying something substantial, doing wall pushups, holding a deep stretch for thirty seconds, or even pressing your palms firmly together and holding for a count of ten. If you can, build a short movement practice into your morning — even five minutes of intentional physical effort before the day begins can shift how you feel for hours. Your body is not asking for a fitness routine. It is asking to be used.
A little (Reality System Total: 16 to 22)
You are getting some proprioceptive input but not quite enough to feel fully grounded in your body day to day. Look for opportunities to add physical effort or resistance to activities you are already doing. Take the stairs and actually feel your legs working. Carry things rather than using a cart. Stretch slowly and with held positions rather than quickly. Build one body-based activity into your week that specifically involves resistance or deep physical effort — strength training, yoga, rock climbing, heavy gardening. A Rooted type who gets even a little more intentional proprioceptive input typically notices the shift in mood and focus quickly.
Quite a bit (Reality System Total: 23 to 29)
Your physical life is providing a solid foundation for your Rooted nervous system. You are getting enough body-based input to feel reasonably settled and grounded most of the time. Deepen it by becoming more conscious of when your proprioceptive tank is running low — that edge of restlessness or distraction that signals your body needs input — and having a quick go-to response ready. A short set of exercises, a brisk walk with a weighted vest on, a firm self-massage. Your body already knows what it needs. You are close enough to the answer to start responding to it faster.
Always (Reality System Total: 30 to 36)
Your body and your daily life are in strong alignment. You have built physical activity, effort, and body awareness into your routine in a way that genuinely serves your Rooted nervous system, and it is paying dividends in your focus, your mood, and your resilience. Keep it. Especially in seasons of stress when the temptation to let physical practice slide is highest — that is precisely when your proprioceptive input matters most. Your body is your anchor. Keep showing up for it.
